Laxdale Cottage is a remote fishing bothy, sitting about one mile from the main road in a grove of woodland on a hillside.
It is a truly isolated location, and was built in the 1900s with fishing in mind: it is only 50m from Laxdale Loch, the leading salmon fishery on the Estate. This is a productive fishery, and salmon and sea trout enter Laxdale to spawn in the up-stream gravel, after passing through the coastal Fincastle Loch and seapool. Because of its isolated location, Laxdale Cottage is not just for fishermen, and is popular with those who appreciate a truly remote and calm location.
Inside, the Cottage is well-equipped and can sleep a maximum of five people. It has been maintained in a classic simple style, with wood panelled walls and tweed curtains adding to the cosy ambience. There is a main double bedroom downstairs and three single beds located in the eaves upstairs.
