A Year Reviewed, Featuring the Hebridean Baker

A Swift Glance Back

As we step into February, it’s astonishing to reflect on how swiftly January has flown by. The year 2023 was a whirlwind of activity for us, marked by visits from a diverse array of guests – from kilt makers and film stars to fishermen and bakers. Among these, the presence of the Hebridean Baker stood out, bringing a taste of the islands to our estate.

Celebrating Tartan and Tradition

In March, we were delighted to host @macgregorandmacduff at the Lodge for the launch of their stunning new tartan, ‘Harris Mist‘. This event was a highlight of the year, showcasing the rich fabric of our culture.

A Gathering of Stars and Culinary Delights

July was another bustling month, with visits from Jon Gibb and Tavish Scott of Salmon Scotland to our fisheries, who left impressed by the beauty of Fincastle and Laxdale lochs. The estate also welcomed stars from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, who enjoyed a memorable day on Taransay.

The Hebridean Baker’s Visits

Notably, Coinneach MacLeod, known as the Hebridean Baker, graced us with his presence multiple times. His culinary skills were on full display as he whipped up delicious Taransay venison and tatties on Paible beach. For those intrigued by his recipes, a visit to the Hebridean Baker’s website is a must. His cookbooks are a treasure trove of Hebridean delights, promising an authentic taste of the islands.
