At Tarasaigh House, Claddach House and Laxdale Cottage we have a minimum stay of 7 nights. At The Rock House and The Broch, our bookings are for 3, 4, 7 or multiples of those nights throughout the year. Claddach House and Laxdale Cottage may be available for short stays during low season – please check our availability page.
The 5 star luxury Rock House and Broch sleep 2 in each. Laxdale Cottage sleeps 2, Claddach House sleeps up to 6 and Tarasaigh House sleeps up to 8.
We accept well-behaved pets at Laxdale Cottage. From summer 2023, one well behaved pet will be accepted at Claddach House and Tarasaigh House for an additional charge. We do not accommodate pets at our other properties. The terms and conditions for all pets are:
- All flea and worming treatments must be up to date.
- Pets should not be left unattended in the property, even for a short period, and are not allowed in any bedrooms, or on beds or any of the furniture in the cottage at any time.
- Pet owners are responsible for removing any fouling from around the property.
- The Estate reserves the right to charge for any damage caused or extra cleaning needed.
- We ask guests to ensure dogs are kept on a lead where livestock are present and particularly during lambing season; we ask all visitors to respect the local community and to adhere to any notices on crofts regarding dogs.
Check in time is 17:00 hrs and departure is no later than 10:00 hrs unless otherwise agreed with the Estate Services Manager. Please advise the Estate Office of your travel arrangements.
We accept cheque and bank transfer. Payment for accommodation is made using credit/debit card via Holiday Rent Payment
Borve Lodge Estate can be found on the west coast of Harris, 25 minutes south from Tarbert and 10 minutes north from Leverburgh, between Nisabost and Scarista. Our What3Words location is boats.seatbelt.cotton. Locations of individual properties can be found on each property page on this website.
Yes, there is a local community coop with a selection of local produce and we can provide details for fresh fish and shellfish.
In all of the properties, guests are provided with linen, towels, kitchen cleaning materials, and starter packs of logs and kindling. In our luxury self-catering cottages, The Broch and The Rock House, you will find quality toiletries and bath robes and you will also be provided with a welcome pack of mostly Hebridean delicacies, which may include smoked salmon, fruitcake, oatcakes and shortbread.
The nearest store is in Leverburgh, just 10 minutes drive from Borve, where the An Clachan community store provides groceries (including fresh fish deliveries on certain days) and 24-hour fuel. At Tarbert, about 20 minutes drive, there are two stores, John Morrison & AD Munro grocers, the latter has a butchers counter. There is a petrol station with a small store a little north of Tarbert, at Ardhasaig. Larger supermarkets — Tesco and the Coop — are in Stornoway, which is about 70 minutes drive from Borve.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted within any of our properties. In the event of any member of the party breaching our smoking policy, Borve Lodge Estate will make a charge for any additional cleaning and damage caused as a result, and the good housekeeping deposit may be withheld.
