COVID-19 Update: Our cottages are now open

 

It is our priority to ensure we have all protocols and procedures in place to meet the recommended hygiene and cleanliness requirements, in order to protect the health and safety of our guests, employees and the community.

In adapting our cottages and the service we provide to our guests, we will adhere to the guidance issued by the Scottish Government in respect to all housekeeping requirements and social distancing. We have signed up to Visit Scotland’s ‘Good to Go’ Scheme and Sawday’s ‘Clean and Safe’ Charter to provide guests with the reassurance and confidence that holidaying with us is as safe as we can make it.

Our housekeeping team have also completed valuable, industry recommended, online COVID-19 training so that we can be confident in the cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting routines which need to be carried out to keep everyone safe. To help our guests at this time, we are reviewing the time period for balance payments to be made. The balance is usually due to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival, however due to the current crisis,  we may shorten this period to 4 or 6 weeks, therefore, please watch for further email updates from us on when your balance payment will be due. ​In addition, while the virus is still in circulation, unfortunately we will not be able to offer departures and arrivals on the same day, to allow us enough time to comply with the new housekeeping guidance, and we may need to change bookings to accommodate this.

We are therefore operating at reduced occupancy for the moment, leaving fallow days between bookings to allow more time for the clean, sanitise and disinfect regime, so our apologies to those who have been unable to book with us because of this.

Please check with us for availability as we are also allowing flexibility from our usual check-in day as a consequence of the changes above. During the ongoing crisis we are overriding our usual cancellation policy and will happily defer your booking to another date, or refund your deposit, if you are not able to travel due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

What is your availability?

What is the cost of my stay?

To view the cost of your stay, first select your dates, property, then the total cost will appear if these chosen dates are available.

 

 

How much do I need to pay and when?

Upon booking, a 25% deposit is required to secure the booking. Any outstanding balance is to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. Should the booking be made under 8 weeks of arrival, the full amount is required.

 

 

What if the dates I want are booked?

Unavailable dates are shaded grey, and will not be allowed to select them because they have either already been booked, or because there is a weekly/short break limit in place and the date you request is not an arrival day.

 

 

How long can I stay at Borve Lodge Estate?

At Claddach House and Laxdale Cottage we have a minimum of a 3 or 4 night stay in low season and 7 nights in high season. At The Rock House and The Broch, our bookings are for 3, 4, 7 or multiples of those nights throughout the year.  Tarasaigh House can be booked for weekly, 7 night bookings, from Monday to Monday.  During high season full weeks of 7 nights can be booked.

 

How many guests do your properties accommodate?

Our luxury cottages sleep 2 in each. Laxdale Cottage sleeps 2, Claddach House sleeps up to 6 and Tarasaigh House sleeps up to 8.

 

 

Do you accept pets?

We accept well-behaved pets at Laxdale Cottage.  We do not accommodate pets at our other properties.

 

What are the check in and departure times?

Check in time is 17:00 hrs Should your arrival time be outside the hours of 09:00 – 17:00 hrs, please contact The Estate Head Housekeeper. Departure is by 10:00 hrs.

 

 

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cheque and bank transfer. Payment for accommodation is made using credit/debit card via Worldpay.

 

 

How do I get to Borve Lodge Estate?

Borve Lodge Estate can be found on the west coast of Harris, 25 minutes south from Tarbert and 10 minutes north from Leverburgh, between Nisabost and Scarista.

 

 

Can I organise transport for my stay?

 

Yes, you can arrange car hire from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis at Car Hire Hebrides, located next to Stornoway Airport.

 

Can I source local produce?

 

Harris is a bountiful place during the summer months, and if we are not producing or catching it ourselves, we can give guidance on local produce for guests to purchase.

 

 

What is provided in each property, in terms of consumables?

In all of the properties, guests are provided with linen, towels, kitchen cleaning materials, and starter packs of logs and kindling. In our luxury self-catering cottages, The Broch and The Rock House, you will find quality toiletries and bath robes and you will also be provided with a welcome pack of mostly Hebridean delicacies, which may include Smoked Salmon, Fruitcake, Oatcakes. .

 

 

What grocery facilities are nearby?

 

The nearest store is in Leverburgh, just 10 minutes drive from Borve, where the An Clachan community store provides groceries and fuel. At Tarbert, about 20 minutes drive, there are two stores, John Morrison & AD Munro grocers, as well as a petrol station. Full supermarkets — Tesco and the Coop — are in Stornoway, which is about 70 minutes drive from Borve.

 

Smoking Policy

Smoking and vaping are not permitted within any of our properties.
