A truly remote cosy loch-side cottage
Laxdale Cottage is a remote fishing bothy, sitting about one mile from the main road in a grove of woodland on a hillside.
It is a truly isolated location, and was built in the 1900s with fishing in mind: it is only 50m from Laxdale Loch, the leading salmon fishery on the Estate. This is a productive fishery, and salmon and sea trout enter Laxdale to spawn in the up-stream gravel, after passing through the coastal Fincastle Loch and seapool. Because of its isolated location, Laxdale Cottage is not just for fishermen, and is popular with those who appreciate a truly remote and calm location.
Inside, the Cottage is well-equipped and has been maintained in a classic simple style, with wood panelled walls adding to the cosy ambience. On the ground floor there is a bathroom and separate toilet and a main bedroom with a superking bed. (The bedroom can be converted to a twin room if required and should be requested when making a booking).
As our most remote location, Laxdale Cottage does not currently benefit from broadband/wifi. Most mobile networks can be received, particularly EE and Vodafone.
Laxdale Cottage is available from March to November for weekly bookings, with arrivals on a Friday for a minimum of 7 nights.
Well behaved pets are welcome at Laxdale Cottage.
